Getting ready to do an upgrade on my kick down rods, going to install Lokar cables on both kick down and throttle, would like to know if any issues I should look for? I have been reading about some people putting a small spring down at the kick down rod at the transmission to make sure a rod go back forward any input would help.
Thanks Tom

I installed them in my coronet with 318 and they work great. I did add a spring at the transmission throttle bracket, helps the transmission shift points.

Lokar cables are easy to work with and kick down can be adjusted and fine tuned from the top. As mentioned a spring should be put on the forward end of the transmission arm to make sure the arm returns properly. This basically replaces the spring that is normally at the top of the old linkage. Hope this helps.

I have both. I like the fact they are thicker. I broke a throttle cable, 40 miles from my house. Luckily there was a Walmart a block away. I got a heavy picture hanging wire, rigged it by carefully cutting and splicing and made it home. The kick down cable is definitely a plus. I did make my own cable mount out of 1/4” aluminum flat stock. I was able to align the cables perfectly. Definitely the spring on the kick down.

The installation seem easy and straightforward. What are some of the fine tuning settings or ideas
Thanks Tom

You have to play with it but, it makes fine tuning easy. Just cut your wires a little long. Ask me how I know. Be doing them again here soon as I cut them too short for fine adjustments

Go to the Bouchillion Performance web site and read about the relationship of the kickdown to throttle stroke will help you understand how to adjust the system so it works.

They work fine.
Haven't done a kickdown in a long time, but when I did mine, the instructions were not that great, and the outer cable sheath was a bit too long.
I had to remove the inner cable wire and cut the outer sheath down about an inch or so to get more movement/distance of the inner cable.

Adjust the cable and housing length, and also you can adjust the length of the cable. If I remember correctly the stroke has to match the same distance as the throttle so at wide open throttle the lever is just at the end of its travel on the transmission. Very small adjustments make an immediate difference in shifts and down shifts. Test and tune is the fun part.

I tried to outline the adjustments in this picture, you can see that there is plenty of cable length which is important. Make sure you have extra cable length.

Before switching to a manual I had their setup on my Charger, I loved it.. way better than rods. The only thing I remember taking a bit of thought was the kickdown cable routing, seems to me it took a bit of head scratching before I got it where I was happy but never had a problem with it. Whatever you do don't cut the cable to early.. I had to pull my cable back out after cutting it and what a PITA! I've installed one since and get everything 100% hooked up and working before I cut anything to length.
