I have installed the lokar cables on my 1966 Dodge Charger with a built 383/727 and was wondering if anyone has put a spring on the lever of tranny to pull it back towards the motor? Thanks for any helpful advice
Yes, otherwise the 727 might not drop back to LOW after stops, and will pull away in 2nd. If the kickdown lever does not come back fully to rest, the governor circuit will hold pressure, not allowing the shift back to LOW. The other secret to get a Lokar cable to work correctly is to make sure that the attachment point (hole) on the kickdown lever is working through the same range of motion as the attachment point at the carb. linkage. This must be 1:1.
