I installed a Lokar throttle & kickdown kit for my 904 set-up due to intake/4bbl carb changes from the prior 2bbl I had. I got the chance to try it out yesterday evening and this was the result; on the first run, it shifted a tad late from 1st to 2nd and wouldn't shift up to 3rd. It was obviously adjust to tight, so I take it back and loosen the adjustment maybe a 1/4" to 3/8" and decided to give it a try. This time it did better... It shifted from 1st to 2nd a little quicker and would shift into 3rd ONLY if I let off the pedal almost completely and then it would truck on. I ran out of day light, so I called it a day. It still looks like I still need to loosen it a little more... I was curious if anybody had any tips on this adjustment like a center of throttle to set screw dimension, or anything helpful. I've also heard of people having to drill another hole in their throttle body lever to make it right as well. Any tips would be great! Thanks!

Hey Satellite ,i have the same setup.what i did was to keep adjusting till i got it correct.you will get it .with mine i didnt need much tension on the cable and it shifts great.

Thanks for the reply. I did finally get it this evening after two more trys, and you were right... mine really didn't require much tension either. Went for a little cruise after that to try out the new equipment and it was fun.

Could you post a picture of the kit you got? I need to get something for my car. My car sort of does the opposite. When I ease around in it, it shifts as it should. But when I get down on it, it will shift through the gears way too fast and before you know it, it's a turd. Whoever installed the kickdown on my car, they pieced together a bunch of stuff and I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. Thanks!

Yeah, no problem. Just give me a day or two... I'll be busy over the next couple days, so when I'm able to I surely will. Before I got into this whole changeover thing, mine began shifting way to quick... which ended up being a really loose factory kickdown. The bolt securing it must have come loose at some point and caused it to slip making it not shift correctly. I'm wondering if yours is adjusted a little loose as well.

Corndog, as promised, here is a picture of the linkage kit I bought off ebay for the mopar 904 trans. Considering it doesn't have Lokar printed on it, I would imagine that it's a reverse engineered knock off. However, I'm into week two of taking the occasional cruise and I haven't had any trouble out of it since getting it adjusted properly and am happy with it. The kit came with throttle and kickdown cables, mounting brackets, springs and other fittings. Mounting the kickdown on the trans was probably the most difficult part and only because of the space to do the work in. I didn't have to cut anything on the kickdown, but I did have to trim the trottle cable and braided steel tube to fit. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the picture! I really like the clean look of that. I've seen that kit before but I wasn't sure if you got the same one (seems like they have to choose from). So it's a knock off kits just like Lokar? I'll have to check out eBay and see if I can find it. Thanks again!
