I was tinkering with my Lokar kickdown linkage last night (picture is not mine, information purposes) and noticed while the Kickdown Carb Body Fitting detached and the kickdown cable loose, the ferrule is detached from the kickdown cable adjuster and has a free range of movement. Is that correct or should the Ferrule remain inserted into the kick down cable adjuster?

I'm not sure what you are asking. I would think the ferrules stay butted against the adjuster when the cable is properly adjusted.

Thanks for letting me use your picture of your engine.

Hmm.. When I have it kickdown connected correctly. There is some slack between the Ferrule and the kickdown adjuster. Is that correct?

If I were tighten up on the cable stop end to get the Ferrule tight against the kickdown cable adjuster, then I'm way too tight and it will not shift correctly.

It appears the Ferrule and Kickdown Adjuster is two separate independent pieces. I didn't put this kickdown on it my car, but I assumed that was one piece.

I have about 1/4 inch movement between the ferrule and the adjuster. But not enough for the ferrule to come all the way out. I never noticed that before. Once I got the kick down adjusted I never messed with it again.

Loosen the adjuster nuts, unscrew the cable adjuster towards the cable housing until the slack is taken up then tighten the adjuster nuts. This will leave the cable stop in its original location.

Are you suggesting there should be no slack?

Do you mean unscrew the kickdown cable adjuster nut? I don't think the Ferrule loosens.

In Fig. 1 the adjuster nuts loosen, allowing you to re-position the ferrule. You are basically unscrewing the cable adjuster with respect to the right hand adjuster nut. When the slack is taken up, then tighten the left adjuster nut against the right one, trapping the mounting bracket of course.
