Looking for a pair of small valve (2.08/1.60) 915 head bare castings for a project. I am in eastern Canada, so you must be willing to ship at least to my shipping address in Maine if not all the way. Not looking for rebuilt heads, just bare castings. Thank you.

Not gonna help you but someone on the west coast might be interested... I've considered going & grabbing them but I just don't need them...

I think I have what you are looking for. I will check tomorrow. I know I have 2 bare sets of 915's just not sure on valve size. Shipping could be costly.

Personally I don't know why you would care whether they were small valve or big valve... In my opinion it would be getting an even bigger exhaust valve then the so called "big valve"...

NHRA class rule for the engine combo is that it must have OE valve size. NHRA allows us to use the 915 on 66-67 383 in place of the 516, but must retain 2.08/1.60 valve.

Not worth mentioning if you dont want to sell (i dont), but i think i have one more set of bare castings too. Hopefully Jerry can hook you up, and if not keep this thread alive or PM me and I will go check it out if it looks like you are in a pickle. Also, not to sidetrack, but what is the real potential over and above a set of '516's or '200's in your mind?? Just curious....

Don't ignore 516s! I bought a set that was ported and had 1.74 valves put in and It is identical to the big valve 915... Except cheaper.

The 915 has a better intake port compared to the 516 older design flat floor. Good point about the NHRA rules and you would be best to use the 915 vs 516. And yes, I have seen small valve 915's factory installed on 383s. The set in that CL ad are old original heads in great shape. We can sprinkle some powder on them and verify there are no cracks or other issues. The price is slightly negotiable and I get about 35% off the FedEx counter rate. They weigh 40 lbs each if I recall.

@Jerry Hall , if the OP is not interested and your 915 are 67 HP versions, I might be interested for my R/T. Just PM Me. Thanks

OK, I dug the sets I have out this morning.
1 one pair with dates 11116 and 11176 small valve heads.
2. One pair dated 2256 on both also small valve heads.
They are worth $200 a pair to me, if not I will keep them. Consider both sets needing everything. Guides, seats etc. Both sets seem to be virgin heads, nothing done. Both were stored in a non heated of cooled shed until this morning, so there was dirt dobber remains in some of the holes, and surface rust, but no pitting. I am in Wetumpka Alabama, still a long ride. PM if there is any interest.

Don’t know if it is relevant, but I mrsixpack just sent me a cam and lifters from Farmington Mi. Package said 50 lbs. Shipping cost was 86.00 US.
My 915,s have been magna fluxed, and have minor surface rust, small valve.

I sent Big D A12 a pair of cylinder heads last year. What I did was make a box out of leftover 1X8 primed pine boards for each head. Drywall screwed them together just big enough that there was no movement inside. Each one was 38 pounds. Fedex ground did great. 3 day shipping Massachusetts to Wisconsin was $38 each.

Heads 1966 TNT engine had 516 heads, don’t know the cam, but it was 365 HP.
67 915`s small valve 350 HP. Big valve 375HP. As far as I remember.

Thank you all for the replies. To shed a little light we are building a 66 383 for NHRA competition, yes I understand the 516 are a decent head, but we have to meet NHRA specific guidelines, and they allow us to use the 915 for 66-67 combos, and they allow the 915’s intake runner to be 23cc larger than that of the 516, as well as the exhaust runner being allowed to be slightly larger as well, but still retain the 1.60 valve. That 23cc volume difference makes a huge difference when you’re trying to make power with this old stuff, and why not take advantage of what we’re allowed.

As soon as you previously mentioned it was an NHRA class racer my questions stopped.. You need small valve 915 heads period....
