The other day I removed my hvac box from my 71 roadrunner. I tested all the vacuum pods and they all worked perfectly with a maximum of 6 in of vacuum to actuate. My question is what would you do modernize the factory box or buy a complete new system and modify to work? Nobody makes a direct replacement for 71 b bodies. I read Kern dog's thread on his and that was a lot to do. Any and all suggestions and or supplier info would be appreciated.
Thanks

Yes car has factory a/c I already have a modern compressor as I just finished installing a march serpentine kit. I'm just trying to figure out which road to take to finish.

Try Classic Air or Vintage Air for the line kits and condenser and dryer kits.

Rebuild your A/C heater box. All your controls and functions will work as the factory intended. There won't be any this switch does this and that one does that, or worse case a complete new set of controls. If you have moved to a modern compressor, and pulley kit that's perfectly okay. Just my opinion as usual.

I've got all original HVAC "inside" my '67 Coronet. Controls included. In the engine compartment, all is modern. Sanden compressor, parallel condenser, new drier and hoses. All new stuff designed for 134. At idle in 120° temps I'm getting 38° at the vent and cruising it gets down to 34°.
Just letting you know the factory stuff works w the modern.

I rebuilt the A/C box in the '71 Charger. Mostly just needed new foam seals. I just used some generic foam and and cut my own seals.
My Vacuum pods and vacuum lines under the dash were fine (30 years ago).
Needed new lines to and from the vaccum canister under the battery tray, and I had to fix the dash vacuum switch because one of the plastic nipples was broken off.
I could not find an exact replacement, but I think I got one from a Dart?, same style switch, but different vacuum block inside, so I had to split the switches, put the good back onto my switch and JB weld it back together. Works fine.

The evaporator is inside the car in the box right? If so, I just used the factory one. I never took anything from under my dash out. Only thing was on my '67 there is a "mixer??" I think that's half in n half out the firewall for the heat. Had a small leak n had it rebuilt. I got lucky, this was my Great Grandmother's car and has been in dry Southwest climate in a garage every day of its life.
