Hi there.
On my Coronet 69 all 4 head beams light at low and only the outer when i want high. Is that right?

Salute
Johan

No......

Should be only 2 outer on lows..

Could be a headlight switch problem.

Sounds backwards.. Maybe the little red "brights" indicator light is coming on 180* from when it should?

There are two filaments -- one high beam and one low beam -- in each of the outboard "low beam" headlamps, which will be marked "2" or "2C1" at the top of each lens. There is just one filament in each of the inboard high beam headlamps, which will be marked "1" or "1C1" at the top of each lens. On low beam, only the low beam filaments of the outboard lamps should light. On high beam, the inboard lamps and the high beam filaments of the outboard lamps should be lit, and the low beam filaments of the outboard lamps should not be lit. You can check which filament is lighting up by covering the adjacent inboard lamp and switching back and forth between high and low beam while you watch the beam pattern on a wall about 10 feet away. When you switch from low to high, the beam from the outboard lamp should appear to jump upward-leftward. When you switch from high to low, the beam from the outboard lamp should appear to jump downward-rightward. See here and here for more info on headlamp circuit upgrades and repairs.

Hi guys.

Thanks for the input. I solved the problem. Someone may have made a misstake and put the wrong colors on the left lamp. Found the colors in a
schema for the car. Allso have upgraded to H4 non symetricel with relays.
Shiiines like h...ll.
Another thing is are there no control light for the high beam. I have a red smal
lamp in the speedo the lights as soon as i turn the lights.
God night
Johan

Johan,

You should have a headlamp dimmer switch located on the drivers side floor board, up in the front left corner. It's obviously operated by foot control to turn on/off your brights.

Looks pretty similar to this and is readily available online.............

Hi again.

Yes the switch on the flor is there but there is no warninglight for highbeam.
Mabye there is not supposed to be. Cant figure that out in my repairmanuel.

The smal red light in the speedo is for???????

That small red light in the speedometer is your brights indicator swede. It should be illuminated up when your brights are on.
Foot operated floor switch turns the brights on/off via a click of the switch.

Okey.
Mine starts to glow as soon as i starts the lights in park and then glows all the time. Something is wrong?????

If it doesn't, there is a couple things I would check out..

I don't have a service manual in front of me so bear with me.

From what you're saying the floor switch will change you lights from low to high beams.
There is a 3 slot plug the plugs into that floor switch, pull it off and check the connections. Make sure they are not corroded up or dirty and you have good contact.

Second, check the wires running into the plug. make sure the are in good shape and are secured into the plug.

Out of those three wires you will have a light green wire running up to your headlight switch. Check the connection up at the headlight switch on that. The violet and red wires will run to your bulkhead connector then eventually to the headlights.

If still nothing, check the continuity of that light green wire running up to the headlight switch. Also check the conditon and securness of the turn in lamp socket for the brights indicator light.

See where that gets you......... Good luck.

Hi Propwash.

Thanks for the hints on trouble shooooting. I will get on it soon.
Till then
Thanks
Johan

Wohhhooooo.

Now all is fine.
No it is not. There is snow and -10c out side but the summer will come..
Thanks for the help.
