I have my K frame out and starting to attach pieces on a bench.

Some clarity needed on lower control arm positioning.

I have read not to tighten the pivot shaft until it's under it's own weight for height adjustment purposes. Having said that the last 1/2 of the shaft is a tight fit into the k frame as expected. If I try to snug it at all I lose the ability to rotate the control arm. I assume it's left pretty lose for that reason.

Can someone provide the sequence for this. I have attached a picture with a yellow arrow pointing to the shaft space that I have to leave in order to rotate the control arm freely.

Is this a normal ? As mentioned if I pull the shaft in with the nut just a little I lose the control arm rotation up and down..

Thanks

Not to worry the weight of the car will allow it to settle.I spray some WD40 on the shaft. You may even have to tap it in a bit to get the torsion bar clips in. Tightening the nuts (Don't forget the proper thick washers)will be the last item before the car is off to be aligned.

I tighten mine at full hang, wrong! Had to remove torsion bar clips. back off tension on t bars. Then cotter pins, loosen nuts and hit the ends of pivot shaft to loosen them. Then jack LCA to mid travel and retightened. Then put it back together. Major PITA.

The pivot shaft doesn't turn inside K member.

i had the same exact problem passenger side. what i did was pull out the control arm a little ways, push the torsion bar in all the way then tighten the nut until there is no gap while making sure the torsion bar stayed snug in the hole. snugged up the strut rod nuts as well. then i loosened the pivot shaft nut and put on the collar and nut back on then put on shock.. last i put in the clip.. clear as mud lol
