So I’m fairly new to mopars but I recently just acquired a dream I never thought I’d have. A 1968 GTX. I’ve been digging through the depths of google trying to figure out how to decode this thing and getting super confused that nothing matches anything I have.

That’s when I discovered Lynch Road…..

So the original fender tag is missing, however I do have the broadcast sheet, albeit not in the greatest shape. Can anyone help decoding this before going to someone like govier.

What I do know is it’s a factory 440/4spd car and it’s believed to be a Track pack car. Only I couldn’t find the A33 code, but now I know why. I guess Lynch road wouldn’t list A33, instead you have to match everything else.

I posted a pic of the broadcast sheet, it’s hard to see in the pic clearly, if you want to know a specific code/number please let me know and I’ll try to get it for you.

Any help in decoding this thing is greatly appreciated as I start putting it back together.

Do you know the gear ratio in the Dana? Super track pack would be a 4.10, A33 would be 3.54. 99% of the info I have is for a 69 lynch road runner, but some might be the same. Doing further research......
Further.. my 440 super track pack car shows 999 on line four, under axle. A33 track pack would be 596 or 597, depending on front disc or drum.
Again, this is 1969 l.r. info.
Come to think of it, ANY 440/4sp car would have to be a track pack, at least. Minimum rear for a 440/4sp would be a Dana 60/3.54/sure grip rear.

Unfortunately, at some point in its life the Dana 60 was swiped from the car and was replaced with a 8 3/4. The U bolts are not the factory U bolts so I know it’s been at least taken out of the car at some point.

It’s faded but I do believe the Axle code at the bottom of my broadcast sheet says 246. While digging through the depths of the forums I found someone decoding a 69 lynch road gtx and they stated 246 would be the 3.54 gears. Whether or not that is true idk.

pretty much everything I found is that to decode a lynch road car, they don’t just list the package, you have to decode all the options, put them together, and deduce which package that would be. But even decoding the brakes, rear, rad, etc is becoming difficult.

If The car is a factory 440 4 speed car it would have automatically come from the factory with a Dana for a rear end.

68 440 4 speed cars will have a 26 inch radiator not sure if it would be a 048 or 047. 048's are for hemi cars but may have been used in 440 4 speed cars. 3 brake options are Manual 11 inch drum. Power 11 inch drum and power disc brakes. If it has a booster on it the drum and disc brake boosters look different. If it has 10 drums on the front someone changed them.

A33 is a 69 and later code. You won't find it on a 68 broadcast sheet.
As stated above, the only gear ratio available for a 68 440-four speed combo would be the 3:54 Dana.

Can you post a more clear, higher resolution of the BS so we can help you decode it?

Agree. Just take a series of close-ups, you don't have to have the whole thing in the frame.

Thanks for your patience everyone. I noticed after making my post the picture uploaded in a low resolution and it was already hard to read to begin with.

So while on a break I typed what I could onto an excel spreadsheet that you can probably read better. Thanks in advance!

Yes the car appears to have manual brakes, manual steering, no A/C, race car stuff lol. The rear drums are huge (haven’t measured yet) but as stated previously unfortunately someone stole the Dana 60 and put in an 8 3/4 so idk that the rear brakes really prove anything.

As far as the fronts, a new K-frame was put in (or re finished, unsure) and has all new bushings, steering components, brakes etc. so also very possible someone changed the drums out.

Ok let’s see if these are any better, I also posted an excel spreadsheet I typed out further up in the comments if that helps.

So if I’m understanding correctly from the couple comments, a 68 440/4spd car by default would be a Track Pack car. As the Dana 60 was the only option for that. So by proving it’s a factory 440/4spd car I’ve essentially documented it’s indeed a track pack.

Also hoping someone can shed some light on the couple “police” pkg options I see on the BS. I see one for brakes, and one for a handling police package.

Brakes I believe would be 11 inch all around Manual adjustment and I think the other is front sway bar

If row 451 is blank it would be manual brakes. If row 456 is blank it would be manual steer
Front brake code 25 is 11 inch drum

If row 451 is blank it would be manual brakes. If row 456 is blank it would be manual steer
Front brake code 25 is 11 inch drum

Well that all lines up then, row 451 and 456 are both blank and front brake code is 25.

So, with all the info you’ve given me and from the other comments I guess it’s safe to call it a Track Pack car, since by default, a 440/4spd was a Track pack car at minimum.

But with that said, does anyone know the BS codes for the trans?

Trans line 39 has code: 3
And under build codes trans has code: 046?

I can see 0, middle number is pretty hard to make out but appears to be 4, and last digit is 6.
