I was home for an hour when the wife casually mentioned "Did you know your interior was here?" On time as advertised. Gotta find a local place that'll put these covers on and do the door panels too.
Whereabouts are you? I've always liked Jim's Auto Upholstery in San Diego, but since he passed away the prices seem to have doubled. But they have done awesome work on some of my cars over the years.
Jim was amazing. I drove up one day to drop off my car, I told him "I'm the one who called". He said "okay, I'll have it done by the end of the day." I asked, "but I didn't tell you my name or what I wanted done...do I need to show you what material and color?". He looked at my car and said, "I remember talking to you". Sure as anything, when I came back it was exactly what I asked for on the phone (which was a day earlier, too!)
Interior work is megabux for quality work. I`m not ready for it yet, thank goodness. I`m broke enough just trying to gather parts to get started. But we have a guy here locally who is just like the "Jim" you referenced earlier. Does super nice work at fair prices. How good is he ? He`s done 2 or 3 cars for Billy Gibbons. That`s good enough for me. Andrew`s Upholstery in Meridian,Idaho.
These are the front covers. Got covers for the rear bench too. They look to be real good quality. The white lines are the chalk lines not thread, scared me at first. Wanted the all vinyl for wear plus it saved a few bucks.
jeez if you can't find somebody in SoCal then i am really screwed.
take a little ride south across the border and use "COUSIN RICKYS"
jsut had to say that. from an old cheech and chong movie.:icon_weed:
When I bought my 65 Belvedere, the guy who had bought it from the original owner took it to TJ and had his cousin do the paint and interior.
When people saw the interior, I always told them that the "original interior is still in the car" and they never believed me. This is what they saw:
They insisted that it wasn't the original interior and told me I was lying. I told them, I didn't say that what you're seeing is the original interior...
wait for it....
I said, "the original interior is still in the car". Yes, "cousin Ricky" never took out the old carpet or door panel trim... he upholstered over top of it all! He glued the new carpet onto the original carpet!!
ahhh... I was there for a few days. With all the bad rust I have seen already, I was pleasantly surprised to see only mild surface rust when I pulled up the carpets.
The rest of the interior is okay, but those seats get hot and sweaty on summer days, so I'm going to see about getting it done locally in fabric. My friend knows a guy who does it up in this area and I'm awaiting his return call to get pricing for the front bench.
