I have been away for the winter and now I`m at at home where I can get back into working on the 63. Today I fitted a max wedge intake and exhaust manifolds to the engine so now it`s on to more details. This is the fun part.
Looks like I will drive this car before the snow falls after all.

Stunning car;love the color on that body. Now,that's inspiration for us to get out and work on our own rides. TO THE GARAGE! WHO'S WITH ME?

Looks like you need another hole in the hood.

Hey, looks like a great project. Wish I could afford those parts for my 63 vert. I guess my 500 stroker will have to do. I have a? what rims are those? any pics.

Sometimes the fun part doesn`t last long enough. Today I finished mounting the battery in the trunk and running the cables and also reconfigured the trans oil tube to clear the max wedge intake manifold. All went well.
I then moved on to install and configure the engine oil dipstick only to discover that the tube is broken off just above the entry point at the block aaarrrrggggg! This is going to fun to fix.

I love that look ! Ron

lookin good, cant wait for the finished pictures ! .... about the dipstick tube, you should be able to run a sheet metal screw into the tube and work it out of the block ...

The car is nice, but please add a dual reservoir master for your safety and that beautiful car you have. I know they ran fine like that from the factory but why gamble.

great lookin ride you got there. crossrams are it!

Have to share this with you....One of the guys at work "Jerry", was telling me today that while waiting for his wife to come out of the drugstore an "Old Dodge" pulled in. Old guy in his 70's got out of it and went in the store.....To make a long story short, Jerry, the guy from work got out of his car and walked over to look at the "Old Dodge" and the owner came out. Turns out that the "Old Dodge" was a 63 Polara 500 and an all original Max Wedge car. Same color as yours Bob but according to Jerry it was really rusted badly. He opened the hood and showed Jerry the engine but being a "Chevy" guy Jerry didn't have a clue what he was looking at.

yeah, ya gotta love an old Dodge!
Here`s a follow up to my dipstick dilema. I received lots of tips on how to remove, so I threaded a large sheetmetal screw into the leftover tube and then used a slide hammer with a curved tip and voila, it pulled right out.
This week I finished polishing and installing a better grille and mounted the trans oil cooler and bent and flared all the lines. Tommorrow I will do the same to increase the fuel lines from 5/16th to 3/8" I hope that will be large enough. I am getting closer to smelling smoke.

I really love your Dodge. My family had the same color 63 while I was in high school. It was a 4 door, 318 with a three on the tree. I do love that year's style! Your work looks outstanding.

Had a bit of a setback that turned out for the better. I wanted to upgrade the cam from a 284 purple shaft to a modern comp grind. Went to degree the cam and couldn`t really get a good TDC so I pulled one head. Sure enough there were new TRW flat top forged pistons as previous owner stated, but I measured them at .075 down the bore. I have 906 heads which isn`t a good combination. Long story short, the engine is out, apart and at the machine shop. Looks like a keith black step head piston set to solve the dilema.
Good news though, all fresh inside engine, hardened valve seats, ARP headbolts and rod bolts, and polished crank. Previous owner never told me about that.
