Since I flat don't know...

63 crossram. Questions are, one, the pipe threads hole on the backside. Breather port?
Two, at each of the mounting bolt cap holes, are cast numbers/letters. Is there a meaning for them?

Just asking...

the pipe thread hole on the back is for the pcv and heater vacuum connection, the numbers by the bolt cap holes are the length of the intake bolts that go under the cap hole

Appreciate that, silversedan! Knew those numbers meant something.

Cars had a PCV system in 63? Thought 66 was the first year for it unless it was a CA car.....?

Been too long ago, Cranky. Not sure when PVCs came out. Do kinda remember that before, a 'breather' was used back to one of the valve covers, to scavenge the un-burned fuel mix.

Any rate, this thing's gonna work, one way, or the other. Good 'ol scrap aluminum.

Just have to scrape up the parts I need.

As far as I know (just enough to keep me in trouble!), all crossrams, long, short, etc., were all aluminum.

This is my first, that I might actually get to run.
Years go had a pair of long rams, that I picked up for $25. Younger brother did me a 'favor', and scrapped 'em, while I was gone.

This one has been well used! Sporting a -1 cast #. Every bolt hole wore out...mounted studs all around. Dang thing is like a big tinkertoy.

Torqued hold-down bolts at 30 ft-lbs...sound about right?
Shoehorn fit, homemade gaskets w/ss block-offs for the crossover, cork front and rear.
