Manual disc brake upgrade question?

For those that stayed with manual brakes when switching to front discs, did you upgrade the master cylinder or stay with the stocker? Also whose kit did you use?
 
Lots of questions for this one.......What car? Single master with drums now? Has it been changed to a dual master? Most all kits come with a master. . If price is a issue then Summit or Jegs have lower cost kits in the $600-$800 range. I have used Stainless Steel Brake Corp. for years and never had a problem. Cost range around $1100-$1300.You are in SoCal so hit a pick a part and find a 73 to 80's B-F-M-J or the like and take spindle and all for around $200-$300 bucks.This is just a sugestion and parts and prices will vary.
 
Thanks. It's a 65 Belvedere II with single master and drums. Was wondering if a new (no booster) dual master cylinder set up will give it a little more power with out going to a booster.
 
You might be able to use what you have if it is a dual.I had already upgraded the single res. I went with the SSBC kit and am very happy with it.I have no problem stopping from over 130 MPH.
 
Have not yet converted my 67, but did put discs on my 57 Belvedere. I used a MC for a 74 Duster w/ manual discs. Works fine.
 
I have a single, just wondering if a dual master will be more beneficial than keeping the single I have. Does it increase stopping power in other words? I've read on the forum many of you stayed with the manual set up so I want to follow suit. There are kits out there with and with out the dual master cylinder (again no booster) so just wondering if I should add the dual master as well.
 
Single master is not safe. If you develop a leak both circuts are gonna go, at least with a dual, you have some braking. Manual or power is fine, personal preference I believe.
 
Agree, use dual MC for safety. Also, not sure if your single MC would have the fluid reserve for discs.

Their was a great article in mopar muscle and how well it worked...No booster needed!!It,s on my list of things to get...Due to my large cam I have not enough vacum for my booster...This solves the problem.

Thanks guys. Dual master it is. Read the article on the RedBore master and it did get a good review from Mopar Muscle.
