I need to know what 62 to 65 B -body came with a manual box. There is not one shown for 65 coronet. I want to go with manual steering for cleaner look and less maintenance (leaking). I got a power box from O'Reilly's and want to return it. They need a car to reference. (plus I am running out of money for a $500 one from, well you know, the expensive places)

I have been reading many posts on the conversion but can't pinpoint a model to reference.

I can't find any manual steering boxes for A B or E bodies on O'Reilly's web site. I think I can return my new power box but what about my core?

Not positive but i think all the early boxes interchange. The one i used on my 66 coronet came off a 64 valiant

I just got a used box and rebuilt it with a faster ratio worm and sector kit from Mancini. Pretty easy. Uses the same pitman arm as power steering. Mine is a six cylinder box as it has bushings rather than bearings, but I have absolutely no issues with it in my '65 coronet big block. Even the "A" body boxes are the same and more plentiful.

I have a manual box on my 63 Dodge 440 and as far as I can tell its original.

Ok, thanks. I just bought a good used one since I didn't need a core for it and I will check mancini for new worm gear.......Thanks All

They ALL interchange from 62-76. Maybe from 60-76. Only differences are the sector shaft diameters. There's a small and a large. And then of course, the rare as hen's teeth 16:1 quick ratio boxes. But the cases will all interchange from body to body. I just got a 65 Coronet with factory manual steering. O'Reilly's is slam packed with idiots.

My 65 Coronet came with and was ordered with manual steering, definitely available.

Maybe the you have something different for the Coronet but in my 64 330 the manual steering unit takes a longer (3.25") steering shaft in the column and the input shaft for the box is a different diameter from the power to manual. When I changed mine over to manual, I had to change out the shaft in the column and the coupler for the manual box. May want to take some measurements before tearing into it. Everything else was fine from the firewall up. Good luck.

Right, the manual steering shaft is longer than the power steering shaft. There are adapters available, also from Mancini.

You bet. Just installed my new Flaming river manual steering box from Mancini going from power to manual. Needed the adapter extension. All fits and works perfectly. Contacted them with what I was doing and they were right on the ball. Pays to talk to guys who know their Mopar chit. LOL.

What is the process for changing out the worm gear. I'd like to do that as well. Thanks for any help, John

I used the factory service manual. I also drilled and tapped the box 1/4-28 for a grease zerk in order to grease the bushings regularly. Very simple. Only special tool that I remember is an inch pound torque wrench to set preload.
