I now have two manual steering boxes..... one is my original box off my low mileage 67 coronet with no grease.

The other is suppose to be a new one from Mopar but it also has no grease.

Originally were they sold by the Mopar dealer with no grease back when?

so how can I tell if there is wear by looking inside the box?

I compared both boxes inside and could not see any noticeable differences.

will I need to use a feeler gauge on the gears...... and if so can it be measured without tearing the box completely down?

I do not understand why my original box was void of grease........ but had some grease residue inside.

Thanks guys for the help:thumbsup:

Old & Bold.... for sure.

It can leak out in 50 years time. pull the fill plug and filler up with your grease gun.

Yes I have that corn head grease ready...

not much room in the engine bay when the hemi is in the engine bay.

The engine & transmission is not installed yet...... but is mounted on its K frame waiting for the gear box.

once the box is installed it will be more difficult to extract... that is why i want the better of the two boxes I have.

I was hoping there would be someone who has worked on the steering boxes before.

Thank you dadsbee
