How big of a job is it to swap to a reverse manual valve body on a 727? Is it something I can do at home with the transmission still in car?

Yup.....if you even have basic knowledge of hand tools, it's not a hard job at all.

X2. It's a little messy if you have a trans pan without a drain plug, but other than that simple hand tools. This would be a good time to replace the shift shaft seal (seal where the valve body shift linkage goes through the case). Not essential, but I'm just sayin'.

Not trying to hijack your thread Bigal but would there be a benefit in useing a manual valve body in an earlier torque flight, two cable, push button trans?

Alright. I guess I'll do the swap at home then! I'll change the seal that was mentioned as well.

You will also need to make sure to install and adjust the linkage for throttle pressure.

I borrow your thread a bit if it´s ok?
Does anyone know if it´s possible to modify a manual valvebody for a 66 or newer TF727 to fit a ´64 727? I have a brand spanking new Cheetah valvebody for a late 727 but i have a 64 one in my car...

Pretty simple job. I've done them in 727's and 904's. Only problem I ever had was a cable adjustment problem for an aftermarket shifter. :headbang:

................Its not a bad job as long as u get the car high enough to work comfortably........I do recommend that u change the front apply lever to a 5.0 ratio, that's a fun job in the car.......kim..............

No need to adjust anything. Kickdown (throttle pressure assembly) is eliminated with a manual valve body.

Not always true. There are several valve body modifications that turn them into manuals but still rely on the kick down. I suppose since he's buying new, it should be in the instructions.
