So, I was re-lamping my dashboard with LEDs and found the rear side markers are the same base, so I used a pair of those in the rear markers. Works great.

I tried to put them in the front marker lights, and the sockets are waaaay too loose for these bulbs. Clearly, a different bulb. None of the bulbs I took out are legible. Any online source shows the same bulbs (1895) front and rear. Has anyone else run into this? Or should I just tap a small hole in the side of the socket, and thread in a set screw to hold the bulbs in place? If I hold them off to one side so they make contact, they work fine...

I had the same issue. I blamed it on work sockets.

1970-71 Parts book shows the side marker lamps for 70 Charger as bulb # 194. This is clearly incorrect. 1895 is shown for all other models.

Yes, it shows 1895 for both front and rear. Front and rear sockets are noticably different - the same bulb ain't gonna fit both.
