Before this hits my scrap pile, do people buy old water pump cores?
Big block pump no idea of the year. Appears to be cast iron.

Someone was wanting one with an alternator for a GTX, Just recently on here in the past few days.

only if it came off a factory Hemi,,,,scrap away unless you want a project. find a rebuild kit and do it up

I have been hunting for a rebuild kit for my water pump, but can't find one. I'm ready to resort to buying a rebuilt one and stripping it out to put in my old one.

McMaster car may have one.

If you have a parts store you deal with give them the cores you may help some one ten years from now

Hang on! Is that the only one you have? What’s the number on that one.

See if you have one with either 7 or 8 impeller on it?

Arthur Gould Pump rebuilders fixes them up for about ~$100.

This is the only one I have

Actually, I think those are designed to be short lived and not restorable but I could be mistaken. The amount one would be paying to do so is far more than just replacing it with either a NOS one if it can be found, or getting a replacement from a parts store or dealer...cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

Some guys rebuild them to use the casting for the correct numbers and dates. The impeller presses off, shaft and bearing presses out really simple. I did it with mine . I can’t believe nobody is jumping on it.. if I knew the date I’d go after it for a spare... I trust my work and the 50 year old casting more than the China made one.. If the date is 3 or 4 qtr 69 I would have to figure up freight to me. Let me know if you see the date, unless someone else takes it.

Where is the date located?
$16.25 as long as it fits in a USPS small flat rate box

I probably have 20 or more old cores in one of my old storage tubs in the garage. Guess I should look for some rebuild kits.

I never really thought about that but it makes perfect sense. That is of course if one is bent upon being correct and numbers matching. Then I'd go for it also myself. But in reality, does it really make much of an impact on the pedigree of the car when one just drives it for pleasure and not going after titles and points or a win. Then it makes perfect a really nice ride...cr8crshr/Bill:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::usflag::usflag::usflag:

Date is usually cast three digit number. Longer number is usually a part number

Any takers?

No takers as of this writing

Can't get a better picture of the part number
From what I can see it looks like 2843290
On the opposite side is 08
On the shaft tip is W 3491-1
