Okay, my name is Jason, I am 17, andI was raised into the muscle car scene from birth. I have a '73 Charger thatwas previously owned by an elderly woman. With the skinniest bias-plywhite lines on ugly 14" hubcaps, and a slow 2bblcarburetor, a single exhaust the size of a bendy straw, this car was goingnowhere fast. :nono: Also, when combined with a green vinyl top, aless-than-aggressive flat silver front end, and a flat hood with a hoodornament, this "grandma car" was just begging to be saved. That’s when I got to work.
First, the car was too green, so I brokeit up by dying the vinyl top black. Then I bonded a “Six Pack” fiberglass hoodscoop to a spare hood off of a ’72 Charger, and shot it satin black, to give itthat classic hot rod look. I also unscrewed the plastic front grilles, tapedoff all the chrome on them, and painted them with satin black also. Next, wheels and tires were up. I got brand new 15” Mopar Rallye wheels with newKelly Charger (fitting name) tires measuring 235/60R15 up front and a massive P275/60R15in the back. After that, homemade heavy-grade steel shackles with holes fordifferent height settings were installed to jack up the back of the car andshow off the 8 ¾” rear end. Also more visible due to this upgrade was the new 2¼” dual exhaust system with Flowmasters that I had installed at a local shop afew weeks afterwards. At the end of these new pipes I installed chrome quad tipsafter refurbishing and re-painting the rusty insides bright red like they werebefore. :icon_mrgreen:
I decided to keep the original 318motor, due to the fact that it had only 35,000 miles on it, and it had a decentamount of potential. I had ridden in it a few years ago, before I had mylicense, and it was an extremely smooth runner with an unparalleled amount oftorque for a 2 barrel and “only” 5.2 liters. The only upgrades that I deemednecessary were a 4 barrel, an Edelbrock high-rise aluminum intake manifold, anda deep-sounding performance dual exhaust. I was considering a camshaft, such as one out of a 340, but me being 17,I realized that it could wait until I could afford the gas mileage. Plus, I wouldget in a lot less trouble with the stock cam.
This winter, I applied somereflective gold Rallye stripes for some visual pop, and bolted on a 1970-styleGo-Wing from Year One. Due to the fact that it’s in a garage, I can’t get anypictures of the car as it sits today; they wouldn’t do the car any justice.

Enjoy these few photos:
