I ordered a 1323M Cardone master cylinder from rock auto. 1323M is a drum drum master for power or manual brakes. The advertised picture shows the correct cylinder with the single bolt to hold down the lid which covers equal sized reservoirs.
I received a cylinder witch has unequal reservoirs ( for disc drum) and the lid is secured with the snap on wire retainer. So it looks all wrong. Paperwork in the box says part may not look like the original but will function fine.
I think it was boxed wrong, what's your thoughts?

I think what was in the box was the correct part. Keep in mind these guys are not in the resto business - they sell you a part that will work in the application - they make no claims or promises about originality. You should have figured that going in.

I understand that but regardless it is misleading showing pictures of the part you expect to receive. Put a disclaimer right on the photo.

I am not sure how a master cylinder can be for power or drum brakes.... If your car is the Coronet then Rock Auto sells a quality brand name rebuild kit for your master cylinder and is it foolishly simple to rebuild yours. The kit comes with a compete assembled front/rear piston and check valves. Remove one screw, pull the check valves out, use a brake cylinder hone to clean up the bore and install the new values/check valve and your done. I have a few photos and comment in my build thread.... I am not sure exactly where it is but start in the middle and look for photos with the brake cylinder installed and go backwards from there.

On the bottom of page 18.

Take a look at your old MC and you'll notice that the rear reservoir is larger than the front. There are no equal sized reservoirs on any dual MC that I know of on a Mopar. The way the MC and cover is made, it allows the cover to be screwed on both ways and seal.
