Hi everyone

I have a 68 coronet that started life with 4 drums. I then purchased a right stuff detailing front disc swap which I installed, along with the master and proportionality valve included in the kit.

I now decided I was rear discs and plan to purchase the right stuff detailing rear disc swap for dana 60

What do I need to do for my master cylinder and proprtioning valve?

Do I need a new master?

Is the residual pressure valve in the prop-valve?

Any help is appreciated.

If it's the front disc kit with the adjustable prop valve, there's no residual valve in the prop valve. You should contact The Right Stuff, and see if your master cylinder is compatible with the rear disc.

You dont need a residual valve, those are made to keep fluid from draining back into the mc when it is mounted equal to/lower than the mounting height of your calipers.

I think he is asking if the master cylinder has a residual valve for the rear drum brakes in it and will this then effect swapping to disc brakes? And/or does the pro valve that came with the kit have a residual valve in it again for the drum rears?

I'm in the same boat as you, disc drum but considering disc's in the rear.

My understanding is the master cylinder has the residual value built into it and the MC has to be swapped to a unit that is for disc disc, but I'm hoping I'm wrong so I don't have to replace it as well if I go to disc rear! Mine is a later model stock MC as opposed to your aftermarket one though

Anyone?
