Does anybody have any information regarding the convertors used with the push button operated 727's behind the max wedge engines of the early 60's. For example, what size were they and what was the rated stall speed? Any other differences in the transmissions?

No difference in trans. The converter of choice in the late 60s was the BM 9" J converter, we used them till around 73 when we went to a Rossi 8" The j flashed to about 4000 and the other 4800. There are better converters out there now, I set records back than with the old stuff and if I were to buy a new one now it would be an ATI , every fast wedge car has them and so do the hemi cars. Also Ultimate Converter Concepts is another great choice, give Lenny a call, he has been around a long time.

I think he might mean what converter was in it from the factory ? In fact I would like to know that myself ? Ron

That is exactly what I am looking for. Most important is the factory maxie stall speed, governor, kickdown lever ratio.

As far as I can remember they all were stock production line parts and trans and converter were not changed. When they got to the hemi cars I dont know what they did. I am not sure about the hemis. I do know the wedges would not launch good till you changed to a J .

11" converter and it will not fit later model trans. input shaft splines are different.
they were like 1100 stall speed and a bear to drive. soon as you push into 1st gear car leaps forward and wants to stall. very rough to drive on the street. especially with a stock max wedge solid cam.
