My project 68 charger was a junk yard purchase from 35 years ago. I introduced myself last nite in the welcome section. Much of the interior was missing. What I have is the following:

Dash
Seat belts
Center floor consol complete but one side is broken clean. I have all pieces
Sun visors
Floor side kick panels
I have seats from another car

My question is
As I find missing things that are in the wrong color should I pick them up? Can the color be changed? Mine was originally white and burgundy interior. I have no side upholstery panels at all nor matching arm rest. They would have been white. I am looking to have a very good driver once this is all finished. How much is available in the aftermarket and is it any Good? Should I just go straight to the aftermarket and not try to scrounge missing items? Any suggestions on a course of action would be appreciated.

Sourcing around will save you $. Classic Industries while convenient as a 1 stop shopping site, their shipping rates are ridiculous. I saved myself $50 in shipping costs by buying 2 small items from 2 different vendors.

For 68 most of the interior can be sourced via the aftermarket. I Just ordered some rear panels from Legendary and I have to say for the price I am not overly impressed. I didn't have the original panels so I don't have anything to compare them to, but they just look and feel cheap. For the price, I could have cut a piece of cardboard myself and had it wrapped in nice leather. Depending on how much work you want to do yourself that may be the route for you to go as well. Its harder on some of the later models to make your own panels since plastic took over but I believe 68 is still just flat panels. Also you can dye most interior if you find a different color but going from dark to white is going to be harder than white to a darker color.

The upper door pads for a 68 to 70 Charger are very difficult to find in a good used condition. Reproductions are available, but they are pricey and the grain structure is not correct. Door panels are all different for the 2nd generation Chargers. Finding a complete set of four in a usable condition will take quite some time. Front arm rest bases and pads are unique to the Chargers, 66 to 67 Satellites and some C-Bodies. The rears are all the same with the ash tray inserts. Package trays are Charger specific, window crank handles are generic to the the A, B and E-Fronts. Kick panels the same for all 66 to 70 B-Bodies. The 68 B-Body dash pad is a one year only piece.
Purchasing the items, piece by piece through swap meets, individuals and the internet is possible, but I would suggest being able to inspect the parts as much as possible as anything can look decent in a picture. The next thing is the cost. Excellent used pieces can cost more than reproduction pieces. Most items can be redyed, but to get good adhesion, everything has to be spotless clean and some items will not hold long term.
Good luck on the car and enjoy.
