I am wanting to check the timing on a 318 in a car I just bought but I can't seem to find the timing marks on the cover. It's a '67 318. Any ideas? Can you buy just the tab or a complete cover? Thanks in advance.

find TDC, and install new timing tape, should be able to get some from summit racing

On small block the timing mark is cast into the cover itself. I believe the early ones are on the passenger side/right side. Probably under 47 years of crud

......clean up the timing chain cover sir, and add some liquid paper to the marks.

Well I found it. After scratching around on the cover and finding nothing, I found this: DSC_7857.jpgDSC_7858.jpg It was on the wrong side (I think) tucked up under the radiator hose. So I turned it around and put it on the right (pass) side and now I can check the timing.
