Finally got too install my new Calverts Mono-Leaf springs yesterday. Didnt really think the back end would drop down that much, i got the +1" springs. Still dropped about 2 inches ! Now the car looks slammed to the ground compared to how is was before. Hope it makes a difference !! I had to let the air out of my tires to get the wheels back on the studs !!! website wont let me upload pictures right now, not sure why ?

i like the low *** end look plus your weight transfer will be better than up higher. as long as your tires dont rub, lower is better, especially with the monoleafs and cal-tracs. mine worked great like that on my 65 plymouth.

did you have trouble putting the wheels back on ? i could not squeeze my tire in b/t the drum and wheel well lip !

65-440, Can you post a picture so we can see it. We're running Cal Tracs on a 65 Coronet; the top of the wheel opening is just above the rim when the car is setting on the ground. Yes it's tight getting the tires on.

Make sure you're rear shackle is not bound up and not allowing the spring to return to natural position. You want to lube the bushings so it moves freely.

I tried to post pictures earlier and it wouldnt let me. The wheel opening is about an inch or so above the rim. even the +1 springs have alot less arch than the HD hemi springs ! ....

1 inch above the rim is about right. You don't want the rear of the car setting real high because it doesn't allow the car to transfer weight.
If you want to raise the rear of the car you can just add pre load to the bars. I have ours set up with no pre load at all.

Spoke to Scott at calverts racing, he said 1/4 turn for preload after the pin touches the top of the leaf. That's how I have it right now.I won't mind the *** end being so low as long as I see results at the track !!i

Here is a tuning chart I found on A Bodies Only, click on the link. I tried to load it on here but it won't let me.

You will find that Cal Tracs will give you a base line but that's it.
You will find that you won't have to mess the bars much. Most of your tuning will be in the rear shock and the front end.
You will want at least 5" of front travel. Measure from the center of your hub cap to the fender lip, then jack the car up and take the same measurement, it should be 5" difference. (Now take it from me..... when you are doing the front make sure to take all pre load out of the rear back the bars way off or it will mind screw you! lol) Once you get the front adjusted then put your pre load back in the bars if you want. (Make sure you or someone your weight is setting in the car when making adjustments).

That should get you close to where you need to be. There isn't a lot to them

i have tried that 1/4 preload way and it did not like it. i went to the nuetral preload like with the ladder bar setup and the hit is harder and i got a better 60 foot.and a better wheelstand. i played with those cal-tracs for years.

if you put the bar in the top hole, it will hit the tire harder. if you hook you'll like the feel of it.
faster low 10 second to 9 second cars like the bottom hole.

Thanks for the advise SSR, When i called Calverts they told me the 2 holes are just to be able to make the caltracs bars as parallel to the ground as possible depending on the rake of the car. With the bars in the bottom hole, they are dead parallel to the ground.

calvert changes there story and installation procedure like they change their underwear. call 3 different guys over there and you'll get 3 different answers.
they do have great customer service though. put it in the top hole for a better 60 foot on your car. you wont be disappointed.

Deflate the tires and they will fit in.Then just pump em back up. I have the same situation on my wheelwell challenged 67 Belvedere...
