Take some photos for us, you know we all love em.. Too bad it's the same weekend as Indy, Mac Tools Nationals, probably hurts the draw some... Good luck & bring home a trophy... That's a great old facility in a park like setting...

This will be a good tuneup race for Norwalk.I will take pictures,I have gotten alot of **** from friends for not taking more pictures.Especially since I have been doing more traveling and racing.

Looking forward to you photos... Don't feel too bad, I traveled all over California in the early 60's with my step father Bob drag racing at, Fremont, Sacramento, Lyons, Santa Ana, LACR, Irwindale, Ontario, Riverside, Pomona, Long Beach, Sears Point, Vacaville, Half Moon Bay & other historic tracks (now many of them are gone), when I was a little guy 6-14 years old, man I wish I had a camera back then & then I traveled all over the U.S. racing with my own cars from 78-98 & very limited schedule from 98-present, mostly Calif. or west coast stuff now... I'm not really a camera/video guy at all, never was, I always had someone on my crew or a friend who did all that stuff, I was never into it, too busy with other stuff... I got **** for not documenting it more, but at the time I didn't really think about being so nostalgic about that stuff, like I am know... I really do regret not documenting/photographing or videoing it know... All I have is my memories, very few photos or videos, what a shame...

That rail brings back memories! I used to have an old slingshot like that... Looks like he has done some work to the cage and the body panels on that one. I had mine updated to the correct number of bars, but kept things low and tight to preserve the vintage look. I always had an uneasy feeling with the diff setting right between my legs!!!!

Cool photos thanks for sharing...

Yep

Yep, I had a few open cars in the past... My favorite was my ex alcohol funny chassis w/ a 23T Altered body, sitting or laying over the rear end & legs/feet on either side of the trans or bellhousing & drive shaft shielding, it's a little eery feeling, but open cars are so much fun to drive especially shorter wheel base cars...

I have always wanted a front engine dragster/sling shot.Obnoxious blown funny fuel 392 hemi badd ***.The only problem I have been told not really built for guys my size.

Big guys

I have always wanted a front engine dragster/sling shot.Obnoxious blown funny fuel 392 hemi badd ***.The only problem I have been told not really built for guys my size.

:iamwithstupid: Yep I'm not a small guy myself, 6'1" 250lbs, always had to have a custom seat & cage in my open cars, they are designed for a munchken 5'8" 150lbs or so, look how "small most pro drivers are" , the Altered's were much easier to fit in if your a bigger guy, your butt is somewhat forward of the rear end instead of sitting behind or over it, you kind of some what lay down, instead of sit as upright as the early slingshots/rails... The worst thing is the open tires right by your head, the open engine, blower, injector hat, oil, fuel & flames etc. right in front of you, I've been covered in oil a few times & ducked some large parts at times also... Still love open cars just a different animal especially the vintage style cars....

I'm just a little bigger than you are 6'6" 270#.It's just not ideal for me,maybe later on in life I will build one.

NICE cars! Love the Polara, thanks for posting them.. Im right in the middle of you guys at 6-5 225# looks like im not the only one bumping my head on stuff! :)

Tall guys

I'm just a little bigger than you are 6'6" 270#.It's just not ideal for me,maybe later on in life I will build one.

Yep your quite a bit taller, it's a funny look to have the cage on an open car too high up in the air, it still could be done there were some early Chutepack bodied cars with some taller cages on them for some of the taller drivers, it dosen't look so out of place with the body around the bottom of the cage... Your height at 6'6" would be a deterrent that's for sure, I'm just under 6'2" & have issues... Another 4+ inches would be tough..
