This may be more appropriate in the racing section but I'll give it a whirl here. I'm just getting ready to drop the test mule in our '64 AWB wagon and was considering options for mounting the alternator. Here is a link to the plate that we are using, so you can see there is a lot of extra meat on it, some of which will be trimmed. http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/frmopl38hech1.html I'll take some photos tomorrow after we session on the car tonight but was hoping someone might have a similar set-up that they could share their ideas with us. I can possibly integrate the mount into the plate or do a stand-alone low mount.

Thanks in advance.

I am interested to see responses to this, as I just ordered the same plate (along with the mid plate) to install on my 62.

well here's a plate I put into a '73 440 scamp. As you can see, the alternator cleared the plate no problem, but I see your plate does have quite a bit more meat on it. The bottom alternator bolt goes into the plate itself.

Did you make those A-body fenderwell headers yourself? You're a brave man. That is also the same induction set-up exactly that we'll be starting with. I have two 2" Offy spacers that I will be experimenting with as well. Failing that I'll bring my M1/950 double pumper to the track in the back seat in case the dual quad sucks.

To the original response though, your motor plate is substantially more svelte than the one I've got. I think they wanted to just cover every application and trim as needed. A notch in the bottom of the plate would work and use the alternator pivot point on the plate itself.

I wish I could make headers like these! These are old hooker fenderwell's I had to repair and re-coat. The carb spacers are probably a good idea - little more plenum space. With your motor plate, i'd do the same thing you're gonna do - trim to fit.

Had a wicked session last night assembling the long block. I know it's not too relevant without the motor plate in the picture but I just thought I'd share anyways. We're picking up our PB 727 after the weekend so we will be dropping the combo in next week.

I can almost smell the burnt rubber and see the tire smoke pouring out of my garage. I pity my neighbors.

PITY your neighbors? More like I WISH I was your neighbors!

It would be cool if everyone on my street was more like us but I have to settle for three cops living in a two block radius. burnouts are pretty much off the table.

that's a nice looking mill...are those 440source stealth heads on there??
I'd take the chance with the burnouts anyways....lol

Yah, we bought two sets as soon as they became available. Some casting imperfections but I smoothed most of them out. I'm pretty sure burnouts will happen...they always do.

I need that as a bumper sticker...."Burnouts Happen" hahahahaha
I'm gonna buy some aluminum heads this year, looked at the stealth's, but I think I'm gonna go with the Eddy's

That engine plate is HUGE!I just made some mods to my junk that also require low mounting the alternator low on the passenger side.I will wait untill the elephant is back in the cage to fab up a new location.I remember seeing one that had the mounting side on the "K" frame and the adjuster off the plate.

That plate is really nice, not to mention the beast it retains. Yah, the Mancini plate is pretty big but we'll trim it down a bunch.

Here's mine. top motor plate bracket. works great.
