Was in the engine bay today and pulled out the oblong plug in the middle of the firewall, lo and behold a damn mouse nest in the space there. is there any quick way to clean out the space with a vaccum, or will I have to build some kind of attactment for the vaccum cleaner? pwDave. Damn rodents. found one under the torsion bar socket when i pulled the floor pan.
Try duct taping a paper towel core to the vac.

You may be able to remove the fresh air box from the interior and reach up through the cowl opening and get most of the big stuff. On smaller sized trash, I tape a clear tube about 1/2" i.d. to the shop vac.

I think my firewall looks like your 62, the heater box is already out, but the air intake is over on the pass side. the small hose taped to the end of the shop-vac hose sounds like the best bet. I've already been digging in there with a coat hanger, got most of it out, but there is that small stuff left that I don't want to start gathering the dampness in the air and rust the firewall out. I've got some clear half inch hose that will work. thanks for the tip threewood. Dave.

Inside of the cowling on my '62, there appeared to be wood mulch. I could have filled a two gal. bucket with it. Through the oval hole, I removed it all with a smaller flex hose, adapted to the shop vac.
