Moving push buttons to the right

When you put the cage bars through the dash, the shifter hits them. So we move them. This us my friend Mike's 64 Hemi Polara that is getting an updated cage. First he decided on gauge placement. He wanted 4. So the main cluster will get 3. Then one will go into a stick shift delete plate. We could've cut up a shifter and heater control bezels. Then glued them to make a new right side bezel. When I did mine my friend molded me 2 for my Plymouth. Close enough. Then to cheat the rectangle gauges so they look factory. Tin snips and epoxy. My wife printed an odometer decal. Certainly it's lighter than factory. Then weld in a bracket and one stud for the shifter. We made a template for 1/8" aluminum plate to mount the bezels. We'll fit that tomorrow.

Finished up the mounting plate. Also drilled the shifter delete bezel for the 4th gauge. Mike decided where he wanted the gauge located as the spacing wouldn't be the same as the right side gauges. Made a few clearance trims in the dash itself so you could get a socket on the face plate bezel screws. They screw in from the rear. Now the dash goes back to get trimmed for A pillar bar cage clearance. Included is a Pic of where the cables goe thru the firewall above the throttle pedal bracket.

Doug , this is the first car I have seen video of that raced with the original push button shifter . I started out using them in my 63 but the buttons started coming off at lanch , was getting time consuming putting them back on between rounds , lol .

I've been racing push button cars since 1990. Simple fix on the buttons. Bend the metal tabs together that the buttons snap into. They won't come out again, ever.
