I’m thinking about changing my mufflers on my Charger. It’s too damn quiet!
Just curious, Ive seen a couple different configurations under various cars and am wondering, what is the best and/or most common configuration?
Mine currently has inner inlets and outer outlets but Ive seen some have center outlets. I know it may depend on the brand (mine are dynomax) but would there ever be clearance issues around the gas tank with centre exit mufflers?

Muffler offset depends on the car. Offset/center, offset/offset or center/center which is straight through.

I would stick with whatever configuration you have now so you don't have any issues lining up the tailpipes.

That being said mopars usually run offset in/ center out.

If you decide to go with a center outlet muffler then you will have to angle the back of the muffler towards the frame to get the tailpipe to fit nicely.
This was done on my 71 Runner.
Stay with the current offset inlet/outlet you currently have then you won't have to do any turning of the mufflers.

Are they the Dynomax Turbos?, if so I woild go with the same inlet/outlet that you already have but go to the Dynomax Ultra flo welded. They are a straight through design , are somewhat louder than the Turbos and have max flow numbers. They don't drone like a lot of others do. Going with a shorter muffler will of course make it louder also.

I’m not 100% sure what they are. I remember seeing Dynomax written on them but they came on the car when I bought it (5 years ago now). They have a very deep tone and I find they are not the traditional muscle car sound I’m after. Therefore, I’m going with Flowmaster super 44s.

Thanks! The first picture in my original post is my car and you can see it is offset. I don’t think I could use a center outlet at all anyways because one of the pipes already rattles against the fuel tank.
