Hey everyone! My name is Chris, and I live up in WA State. Admittedly, I’m notorious for lurking on Mopar forums digging for various info for my podcast, Talking Mopars. Hopefully you’ve heard of it, and if not, maybe you’ll enjoy it. I have recently acquired a 1972 Plymouth Road Runner, and I’m trying not to be overwhelmed with the project. I got it in a trade, and while I was sad to see my beloved Dodge D150 Mr. Norm’s Grand-Spaulding Dodge tribute truck go, I was beyond excited to tackle the assembly project that is my Road Runner.
The guy I got it from bought it online and shipped to WA State where it subsequently was blown apart, and had the metal/body/paint/engine work done. The owner (who is a Mopar guy, and owns a body shop) is dealing with health issues, and wasn’t thinking he’d have the energy to see the project through to the end, so we made a deal and became friends.
I’m likely going to have a ton of questions related to re-assembly, and I figured this would be a good place to share my experience with this project, and hopefully learn some stuff. I’ve included some pictures of the car below. It’s a 1972 Plymouth Road Runner that was originally equipped with a 340 and an A-833. I was also lucky enough to get it with the fender tag, and a really good condition Broadcast Sheet. Unfortunately, the original engine and transmission are gone, but it does have a conservatively rebuilt 340, and a 4-speed.
