All the cool projects that have been posted has motivated me to get started on this 68 GTX. It hasn't turned a wheel under it's own power since 1979! The original engine and transmission was gone then already, but Jim put in a 440 and a four speed from a 71' back in 1992. he never started it, and became terminal in 2004, then passed away. His brother Inherited it, and now he is terminal. We had been friends since 1979, and he knew I would finish it. So, here it is. I am debating leaving it a four speed, as so much work was done to convert it, and it clearly was an Automatic car. 70,000 actual miles on the body, so it is super solid. Even the front end is still tight. I remember Jim trading an alternator and radiator from a roadrunner for this car! it was a crazy time back then. I've done several 67's, but this is the first post 67 B body I have owned,so it should be fun. Manual steering, manual brakes, AM radio, Buckets white interior, that is it on this car. I intend to paint it the midnight forest green color, almost black at night. other than that, bone stock is all I want. I hope everybody enjoyed the pictures!

Thats a sad story leading up to this being in your hands now but its good that you have friends that know you'll take care of it and bring it back to life! Forest green with white interior really sounds awesome to.. Great looking car and good luck with the bringing it back, Have fun!! The 68 GTX is my pick among them with the 70 next to it, White stripe on the side to match the interior?

Very sad story but this is your chance to turn it into a great memory Good luck.

I agree, your friends knew they were leaving the car to somebody that would appreciate it.

They were more rabid than me, but being an all original guy, I've been struggling with finishing the conversion to a four speed. I think I'll take your Que to finish it the way Jim would have appreciated it. Dark Forest green and a four speed.
Thanks

Sounds like the car has been left to the right person - although a sad way to get there. White vinyl top, or black?

The top is all original and in good shape. I'm undecided, thinking forest green and no top, or white to match the Interior.my big question was to go four speed, which is what I'll probably do.
