My 727 is not going into gear!

So, after finally getting my '66 Satellite on the road this summer, the transmission left me stranded a couple of block from my house. The transmission has been re-built by a reputable company, Mopac here in BC and was shifting and running great.
Took the car out yesterday, did a little burn out leaving my house and the tranny just stopped working after letting off the gas. No reverse, no drive, first or second, neutral works great though! :angryfire: I thought ok, maybe the linkage let go, but no, everything is fine there.
Anyone have any ideas before I pull my transmission out?

Check the fluid. Make sure its full. If you have nothing in any direction i would lean towards a pump/converter issue. Possible valve body issue.

If you've already checked the fluid level (my 727 seamed to be very sensitive to the level even being a little low) and the linkage which you said you did you can pull a plug out of the side of the tranny and install a line with a gauge to check tranny pressure. I'd drop the pan and look at the internal linkage as well, there's also a screw in there that adjust the line pressure that would be worth looking at too (no pressure no go). Did you check your converter bolts?

have you tried putting the car in manual low?

if the car will not go in any gear in the regular "D" range, the low clutch is malfunctioning.

manual low bypasses the low clutch by holding the low band.

Sadly I bought the transmission second hand after the owner decided he wanted a 4 speed instead of an automatic hence the no warranty. There was no movement in any gear and when checking the fluid level in neutral, there was no visible change on the dipstick, which I assume means the fluid is not being pumped.
So the transmission will be going to my friend this week to see whats wrong with it. Only took 2 hours to get it out which I don't think is too bad.

Just got word from my transmission guy that the issue was the front pump. So parts will be ordered On Monday and should have it back in the car by next week.

Good deal. Curious what the problem with the pump is. They are pretty much fail proof unless the torque converter isnt fully seated during installation or they are run dry

I had the lugs inside the pump that engage the converter shear off while driving my truck about 17 years ago. No idea why they let go either, as I was slowing down to turn off the highway toward my driveway. Weird shudder went through the whole truck as I made the turn, and then poof, no go in any gear, so I had to push the truck into the driveway. It wasn't an engagement issue to my knowledge, as the whole thing had been in the truck for close to 20 years with lots of heavy loads and towing in that time. Sometimes parts just fail. New pump and converter (since I had no idea where all the metal parts ended up) and a refresh of the rest of the transmission, and it's still on the road today.
