I bought this car when I was 16 in 1984, sold it before leaving for US Air Force in 1989. The guy that bought it let it set in his yard for 22 years. I had been trying to buy it back off and on for all those years and had just about given up when he called out of the blue and offered to sell it back. Its mine again and forever will be as long as there is air in my lungs. Hope to start restoring soon. Still a very solid car with minimal rust. The gas in the tank and the oil in the motor was put in by me 22 years ago. The guy never opened the trunk...it was still full of the goodies that I had sold with the car...67 GTX hood scoops, extra Belvedere gas cap, hood ornaments, and some of my AutoZone receipts from 1988.

Cool! I tried looking for my first car...also a 66 Belvedere II but heard the guy that bought it totaled it out. How is yours for the 22 years is sat?

Wow - what a great story. Congrats on getting it back! My first car was a '70 GTX. I owned it from '81-'84 and tracked it down about 10 years ago. Glad to know it was still alive and in state. The guy who had it at that point thought it was worth way more than it was. I've lost track of it again, but I think I can let it go now that I have my '64 to play with. We never forget our first girl, do we.

welcome to FBBO forum, cool story & project...

Welcome to FBBO, Great story, Good luck with the restore!!

Very nice it doesn't look bad at all for sitting 22 years. My first car (66 Barracuda) is in the garage of the guy I sold it to in the late 80s. He still won't sell it.

I think it's really a cool thing when you can buy back a car that was special to you. I'd give anything to find the '68 Bee that I bought new. Good luck with the project and please keep us informed (with pics)

Welcome!

64Bel, my first car in 1985/86 was a '73 Mercury Comet, and if it was a girl, you couldn't pound enough beers to make her look good, lol.

welcome, wow i bet that was like going back in time when you saw all those receipts.
