I Have a 1968 Plymouth ferry 3 with A383 in it it was my dad's car and he passed away about 2 months ago to to 3 months ago and I am having problems with the timing I am new to all this stuff and I don't even know where to start 1st and the other thing is I've been reading on the forums and I don't understand when they say 12 to 16ﾟ before top dead sinner and then at 2000 RPM you should be in about 24ﾟ I don't understand when they say that can somebody please please help me I would like to keep my dad's car running in good and keep my dad alive by doing it

Cause I don't know what I'm doing lol sorry but it's all hooked up just runs like it's missing Sometimes it back fires sometimes most of the time it don't

Yes I do I have 2 one Was the knob on the back and then I have another one where you hook it to your main coil wire and it tells you the RP m's and does the timing at the same time but it doesn't the RPM doesn't Stay still

On your timing light, hook the +12V lead to the positive battery terminal and the ground lead to the negative battery terminal. The last lead should be a inductive pickup that goes around the #1 cylinder sparkplug wire. #1 is the most forward cylinder on the driver's side on your car.

Welcome from North Carolina. Sorry about your Dad. If there's a vacuum advance on your distributor, be sure to disconnect it and plug the vacuum line before checking the timing.

No I put The manifold the distributor on myself on myself It runs but the other day it wouldn't start after about the 4th try and a backfire it started

No I put the distributor and the manifold and the carburetor on myself But I feel that my car is at a timing so I bought a tack ometer I hooked it all up thinking it was gonna be a lot easier to time and to get it more precise but then I realize that the RPM needle doesn't stay in one place it jumps all over the place so then I started reading up on that and got out of that is that I had a vacuum leak A foul spark plug or a fouled spark plug wire And so the only timing that I have hooked up is mechanical timing all my vacuum is plugged Cause at 1st when I had the vacuum hooked up to the canister on the distributor when I would go to punch it it would ball out and then go And then I got told to unplug the vacuum and just run it on mechanical timing will it still kind of run like **** and then I started reading it up on the Springs and the weights that go on the distributor so I changed out just the Springs and put the lightest Springs on there and it started right up and it has more power So I wanted to retirement with the technology with the tack amateur To dial in the timing better but like I said the needle on the RPM doesn't stay still so I took the Manifold back off because I didn't put gaskets on the 1st time so took the Manifold off put gaskets on it tighten it all back down and the needle still moved all over the place so that's where I'm at now So to be honest I just don't know where to start 1st I don't know if I do the timing with the timing gun now I'm in gun now do I put the original Springs back on it do I leave the Springs that I put on it there and try to do the timing Because I was renowned well it should be at 32 or 23 With the RP m's at 22 or something like that well I can't tell where the RP m's are at so what do I do now

OK so I watched the video So where is the timing supposed to be for my motor it's A383 Mopar motor So where is my timing supposed to be at idle and where is it supposed to be I guess after idle I don't know at
