1st off obviously I've failed as a father.

He's wanted a Mustang for a long time and has saved up for it as well as putting in a lot of ot at work.

He finally found the one he wanted in Henderson, NC and negotiated the price as well as trading in his old car.

He's officially off our insurance so were saving about $3,200 a year now as l got off the phone with our insurance agent an hour ago!

He and a buddy drove 12hrs down yesterday and then drove about 8hrs home yesterday before stopping in Reading PA to get some sleep.

The dealership was going to change him $3,000 total to trailer his new car up here and then trailer his old car back to NC, so he decided to save some money and drop off the old car and pick up his new car.

That's a great car considering what else he could have come home with.

Could be worse :poke: could be a Nissan or something even worse

Mustang wouldn't be my 1st pick, ever even a vintage one
(well maybe a 69/70 Boss 302, not for a daily driver)

but he likes what he likes, he paid for it all himself (I assume)
& you supported him & his decisions, let him learn by his mistakes
& congrats to him, I hope it serves him well...

Oh yes, this was his deal, he paid for it in full and is paying for his own insurance.

He's a gear grinder for a defence department helicopter contractor. For a 20 year old kid he's making crazy money and now is a teamsters union steward.

Did I see that right $56k+ with destination & delivery costs
pretty well equipped, & not as much as I figured...

Hope he enjoys it...

Yea that was what it sold for when brand new.

As it has 34k miles on it, he got it for just under $40k

Did it come stock with the Recaro seats? $55k new. Wow. My first Mustang 5.0 was a 87 GT, $12k out the door.

For a 20-year-old, he's doing well to be buying a car that expensive, but hopefully he can handle that power and not let it get away from him. We've all seen the vids of Mustangs and crowds, bystanders, sidewalks, trees and buildings...and other cars. Hope he stays safe and respects the car's power.

You raised a great son. You should be proud. He didn't buy a riced out Honda and he's paying his own way.

Yep, almost a $1,600 option.

Thanks. He's got a good head on his shoulders and as he paid for it himself l know he's going to take good care of it, but I'm sure he'll open it up from time to time, who wouldn't. I've talked to him about not doing anything risky with it, and he knows if he gets a ticket he pays for it.

Thanks! I've told both my boys forever that once they hit 30 and if they've turned out as fine young men that my my wife and I did our job.

We have been blessed that we have avoided the issues so many kids these days face.

You got a boy that's into cars, that's a plus. I see he's got AC/DC on the stereo, that's a big plus! You got a good son in my opinion.

He's been into cars ever since he was little. He used to have a toy truck that he could get into and scoot around in with his feet. He loved to give it a car wash.

Actually that's when I was driving, he doesn't listen to my type of music.

The 5.0 is quick and extremely reliable. He'll get years out that engine. Congrats for all his achievements and if I were you, I'd be very proud!!
