So as you can see this connector needs to go I purchased the car like this . I've installed connectors before I'm looking for a 8 pin or 9 pin connector I found a webpage that sells automotive connectors . My question it's stating current capability is 7.5 amps where can I find out if this is okay to use.

what year/ type of car? Whats the connector plug into? Alot of guys keep spare wiring harnesses around for this type of repair

1973 Charger it's from the ignition to the firewall

Looks the same as 70 model

Common problem on the column mounted ignition switches, the original Molex type connectors couldn’t handle the current load of the Battery feed. Later OE replacement switches were packaged with Packard connectors and longer lead lengths on the red & black wires with the intention of bypassing the Molex connector altogether for those two circuits. There are other aftermarket high current connectors readily available if originality is not a big concern. I’ve used 30amp Anderson Powerpole connectors in that location with good success.

They had by passed the red wire after it caught on fire. I redid it and fixed some other wire issues. But now I have both seats out so it's time to fix it.
