I spun a bearing race on my front 10in drum hub! I'm pretty sure a new bearing/race set will be a waste of time and money! A quick search indicates that I might be sh*t out of luck in finding a replacement hub. What are my options here, anyone run into this situation?
There should be plenty of good used ones around, with the advent of replacing with disc sets. Try posting a WTB ad, and see what's available. Post your year & model for a correct match...
I spun the outer race in my front rotor many years ago - before repops were available and good used ones were hard to find. I was able to save it by having a machine shop bore it out and put in an insert. Been working like that going on 30 yrs. Just an option...
That's a good question, need to clean up the spindle and take a good look. Any sort of a groove is bad, correct? The machine shop is an interesting solution. I wonder if that's something they do frequently, I'll investigate after the weekend, if that doesn't pan out I'll PM the guys with the extra hubs. Thanks very much, feeling better about this mess now.
