Need a scanner for my duramax diesel to reprogram error in computer

My duramax diesel goes in to safe mode while towing up a steep hill and goes into power reduced mode.
i have to get a scanner and erase this error message. i have a long tow next weekend and cant afford to get stuck on the side of the road.
So which scanner do you guys recommend to get rid of this error message?

do you know if you can just use a standard OBDII scanner to clear that code? If so my Equus 3130 Innova works great. There are cheaper ones available if you want, but the nice thing about this model is that it shows the error code and description on screen, rather that having to reference a manual or the internet to see what the code means.

this is actually a really good price, but local autozones etc have this brand too.

i just looked it up, you can clear codes on your duramax diesel with a standard OBDii unit like the one I described above. (my friend's diesel sprinter will not let you use a standard OBDII)
