Was chasing down an electrical fault on my ‘73 Road Runner this Sunday. Car engine would suddenly shut off intermittently. Found a loose fusible link and repaired it only to see it start to fry. The number A1 circuit at the firewall (slot number 16) luckily burned through Blade end of the connection before it got ugly, but, the intermittent fault had now been fused. It now showed a constant ground fault.
After spending the rest of the day taking the electrical system methodically apart, I found the fault at the ammeter. The input post was loose at the ammeter and was grounding in the dash frame. Connections were all tight except for the mounting nut at the base of the stud.
so now I need a new ammeter..... anyone out there have one?
thanks.
