Need education on distributors!!!!! help!!!!!

I have set a BB 383 in my 74 Satellite. Starting to reconnect wiring and the 383 is still a points system and the Salletellite is wired electronic ignition. The mechanics around here keep saying it can still be wired in , but I'm not trusting. The 383 is mildly modified does not need high end electronics so what are my best options.

Get a wireing diagram for a 383 the year of the motor and one for the car and match up the wires.... Or to be easy... Get a distributor for a 74 400 and lengthen the wires as needed .... Orange electronic box.

all you need is an electronic distributor off a 400 engine. search the parts for sale, I bet you find one cheap. cut the distributor plug at the harness and make it long enough to reach the front of the engine (if this is a small block car)

OEM mopar distributor is hard to top that's in good order.... but what happens 90% of the time is someone has an old worn out one either style or it was not tuned properly and they buy and aftermarket set up and have great performance from it and assume that the mopar one they had was as good as a factory set up could get. Points or electronic there's hardly a difference unless your after seconds ... I'm trying to educate on distributor.... you have nothing to loose with the points one you have and some jumper wires or a new one for a 400.... before you spend a lot more on a msd or other upgrades.... you learn distributors by playing around with it. Not buying stuff you may or may not need....
