Ok, you guys have helped me figure out that my dads 69 Charger has a regular (non-HP) 383 4-barrel from the factory. Thank you for all the help on that!
His air cleaner is unsilenced, and simply wrinkle black finish. I’ve seen pics of Charger 383’s with a nice looking “383 4-barrel” pie tin on them.
1) was this engine ID pie tin a factory option, a Mopar accessory you could buy at the dealer, or did these just come with the car if it had that engine? He’s had the car since new, and never changed it, and his is plain black.
2) I want to get him one to help dress up his engine a little, but can’t seem to find an Orange “383 4-barrel” tin, only red, which is 1968 and older I’m finding. I can find “383 Magnum” in Orange, but his isn’t a Magnum.
3) did they not make an orange “383 4-barrel” tin because the 1969 had the Magnum in the 4-spd cars, so the auto’s got the plain black lids?
4) I want to put a period correct tin on there if there WAS such a tin available in 69. Please let me know what you think I should put on there, if anything at all.
