Hi all,

I have a 69 Super Bee that I bought several years back. I'm restoring it inside and out. I bought 69 seat covers from Legendary Interiors. They don't fit. When I asked Legendary, they said it was because they were probably 67 or 68 seats. Before I go for another set of covers, can anyone positively identify them for me? One of the hard metal covers for the back of the seat is shot. Are they required or is that an option that can be replaced by a flat back cover? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Blake

looks like a C body seat.B bodys dont have a metal back or the skirting on the bottom

They could very well be 66-67 b seats. The 66-67 B bodies had the hard side cover and the hard backs with the wide chrome band at the top. If they are 66-67 B, you got a rare set with the headrests. Those are hard to come by and may worth quite a bit. Check the spacing of the bolts on the bottom and see if they match up to the holes in the floorboard.

Unfortunately, the frames are not interchangeable with 68-69 as far as I know.

The frames are the same as 66-67 A body, but the tracks are different, and the A body seat back has a thin chrome strip at the top of the hardback in lieu of the thick strip.

If they are 66-67 B seats you should be able to move them pretty quickly.

thanks dsd1967

I can't match them up to the floor boards. The floor boards had about 20 holes. It looked like Swiss cheese. There were holes that looked like they were done with a hand drill and missed location. They were dremeled to put them in the correct location. I replaced the floor board, because there were so many holes. Unfortunately when I was trying to remove the paint so that I could repaint them in black, I ruined one back plate. I didn't know it had a rubber like coating on it. It melted loose and I couldn't fix it. I may have to recover them and put on flat backs. Thank you for the help. I will post the pictures when I'm done.

I can check tonight on the spacing and get you measurements. By the looks of the top picture, the tracks appear to be B-body.

I also looked in the Legendary book and the upholtery pattern on the seats in the picture at the top of the post are 69 coronet/superbee. However, there are at least three things on the seat that are not 69....the headrest, the hard lower side cover, the hard back cover.

68 and 69 seats used a cardboard back covered in vinyl and it only covered the open area on the back of the seat. It did not wrap around like the hard shells. The 68-69 seats did not have any side cover on the lowers, but they did have plastic hinge covers. The 69 head rest was molded vinyl and had a chrome band around it. Download the legendary catalog and it will help you a lot.

If the picture above is indeed 69 covers, you may be able to use the frames and tracks with new foam.
