I have an automatic on the floor. I bought the M&H harness from Year One #HU232N.

The single wire from the harness goes to the starter relay somewhere but I have no empty spot to connect it.

I have an orange wire grounded to the chassis where I think the single wire goes to the relay.
Is it normal to ground this so the car will start if the neutral safety switch is disconnected?

Anyone with a 1969 with automatic whose backup lights work have photos they can share?

Where the orange wire is, at the relay, is where the M&H wire lead should go. Other end of the harness goes to the NSS at the trans, and is 'grounded' in park or neutral.
What you have is a go-around for that ground wire.
