I am installing a freshly built 727 from a 71 dodge in my 65 dodge behind a 2002, 360 roller motor and have hit a snag. The studs at the rear mount on the 727 are about 1 and 1/2 inches farther to the rear and 1" closer together, than were the bolt holes on the A904 that I am replacing. Is there a part that I can buy that is a bolt in that will make the adaptation, or do I need to rework (cut and weld) the mount that I currently have and make it work for this problem? Any advice will be much appreciated. Also does anyone know how to remove the emergency brake cable housing from the cross-member rear mount support in case I need to do so?

You need the tranny conversion mount. Schumacher Creative Services or Mancini should have what ya need.

I presume you are talking about the rear mount on the trans cross member. Pretty sure Schumacher would take care of you.

There should be a small retainer clip that holds the E-brake cable to the cross member.

Are you running the factory K~Member ?, if you are Then Schumacher has the right trans mount for you, if not then your gonna have to rework your factory trans mount !!

I had run across the same issue when changing a 65 cable shift tranny to a newer version. This particular car had a forward extension on the removable crossmember. As I recall, I had to make an adapter plate that bolted to the tranny (with one width of holes) and then was drilled to accept the upper mount holes. The lower holes for the tranny mount bolted in the original spots. I suppose in your case, if you went this route, the plate would extend forwards to meet the upper mount bolts. No welding necessary. I believe I used 5/16 plate steel. That would have been 7 years ago and it's still exactly the same way today. There's not a lot of torque on the tranny mount and it's usually the last mount you tighten after tightening the engine mounts. It basically supports and sets the engine angle and aligns the tailshaft to the differential laterally.

Yea, get the conversion mount, and post some pictures.
