Hey guys I know it's not a b body but at least it's still a mopar , anyways I have a 73 duster I'm going to be selling soon ,it was a / 6 car drum brake now power anything it now has a ,
New rebuilt 318, New rebuilt 904, proper length drive shaft ,New u joints, org 7 1/4 still, a k frame swap with disc brakes (new brakes all 4 ) power steer conversion (all new steer parts including gear box),New front shocks and new rear air shocks , New American raceing wheels with tires ,New custom made duel exhaust (bent pipes /welded) new cherry bombs , all accy on motor are new, elc's are new ,rad is new, so prity much it has been mechanicly restored and upgraded.
The interior is all there in ok shape the body isn't bad but it does have about 5 small rust spots starting .so overall I have a little over 11k invested in this duster ,and obviously I'll never see that money agen. I'd say it would take another 7 to finish the car correctly. I know you need pics I'll have to take some in the morning. I see these everywhere price wise and figured I'd get opinions before I post it up for sale . This car is turn key and go. As much as I don't like a body's it's starting to grow on me .
I'll give a little back story why there's so much invested. I bought this car 8 years ago or so for my younger brother as his first car (didn't want him driveing a Honda) so it was a low mileage survivor car /6 and everything. Some how he managed to blow up the 6 so I took the time to build a safe and reliable driver , v8 disc brake and power steer+ everything else. No sooner then it was done he got a dui and it was parked in the garage for two years (I took it out here and there )then he got his license back drove it for a few mouths got his wife pregnant and parked it agen only driveing it here and there very rarely. So I get the call to take the car and sell it she won't let him keep it .
So that's where we are at . So since I don't play with a body's I need some help .
Thanks and sorry its so long
Pics Sunday after noon

Not really sure about the value of the car, but I do believe your brother married the wrong girl lol.

Dusters and Demons have been all over the map price wise over the past few years. I think a lot of folks thought they were going to be The Next Big Thing a decade ago and started dropping some major $$$ into them as the supply of B and E bodies started drying up. I've seen a lot of them coming up for sale all over FL, including a lot of very nice restored and modified cars. What I'm not seeing is many of them selling.

The nicer ones tend to list in the $13,000-$17,000 range, but when they do I see the listings all over the place, and again and again, for months and months, so I assume this is about what these people have in the cars and don't want to take a loss, but with the value of B bodies dropping you can get a decent Roadrunner or Charger for that kind of money. The other downer for your car is people who are going to pay top dollar want a 340 car, and there are quite a few of those on the market.

I've seen good unrestored drivers listing for between $3,000 and $5,000, and they're not disappearing off the lot either. And they're in a lot better shape that the car in your pictures.

I would say your car is worth about $1,000 as it is. Go to Maaco or find a good local painter and get a popular color on it, and you're probably going to be in the $4,000-$7,000 range.

I don't know if I'd go as low as $1000 myself... But after a quick search on craigslist to what others are going for, I'd would give anywhere from $2,000 to $3,000 for your car, mainly because it's a driver. But this is coming from a guy who lives in the rust belt, and things tend to swing differently up here than down south. If you could get this car advertised so guys up north see it, it would probably get gobbled up pretty quick, as the rust free southern cars sell pretty fast around here just due to the lack of work needed to make em look good!

You will "never" get your money out of it.
My advice is keep the Duster as your daily driver and sell any Hondas.
Excepting the B body, that A body is the best car on your street.
And for a driver, the A body is better.
That thing has a fold down rear seat.
It's a SUV.
The fold down rear seat is great. I can get 8 feet of lumber or fenders in mine.
Looks like it was an original white car.
Go back with a light color. It makes a big difference in the southern sun.
On my yellow one I was going to make a hybrid 134 system using the aluminum compressor from a Diplomat. But I lost all my parts. Life got in the way.

If its solid and not full of that Florida coast rot 3K all day up here

this 73 duster started out as a /6 , 3 speed car. very solid , the guy wanted 3,000 for it. I traded him a 96 Cherokee for it. I swapped the 6 for a 68 318/727 , and added a few things to it , then ended up trading it for a running/driving 73 charger. overall , the trade was worth about 3500 .

Well guys the truth hurts I was kinda afraid of the sender I built it for him to keep forever so cost wasn't a factor every part on it is lifetime warranty at AutoZone well maybe I'll fix the rust get the body as nice as it could be I wanted to practice painting cars so looks like a good practice one ,I was hopeing he would change his mind and finish it (it's not to far away ) and he has a young boy who would probably love to have it later in life , maybe I'll list it for 5000 and drive it and give him some time to think about it

Wish my brother would have helped me out like you did yours....good luck.

I would agree with that for a self-valuation, but the mistake I often see owners making is establishing a price based on what they think the value of the car is and not one based on what it will sell for. This is why we see cars sitting unsold for months and months and months. Buyers generally don't care about value, especially when it comes to cars they are likely going to be paying out of pocket for vice financing. Cash cars sell on price more than on value, and unless you get lucky and find that buyer who's been dreaming about getting the exact kind of car you're selling, and has the cash on hand to meet your value price, you're going to spend a lot of time selling your car.

I think he's making the smart move by getting the paint and body done, which will greatly increase the price he can ask, but the downside is still there's just not much demand for A bodies... with the exception of Demons. They do seem to be selling better than any other A body.

Yeah I agree, since there's so much money in the car the best option is to practice thy painting skills and drive the heck out of it! Then when more cash becomes available, my vote is turning it into a drag car!!

Well there is opinion 3 also witch is harvest all the new parts for the b body's ,witch I don't like but I have a low mileage motor trans that run perfect and my wife's car could use them , also most every part on the duster was charger stuff so that's an option that would save me money then I could just sell it as a roller for $1500 since I've seen a few in worse shape sell like that for a race car . So that may be it's Fate I guess we'll see or part the rest out beings it's all in nice shape , I do hate doing this though .

If you part it out, the universe will weep.

Part it out if you want more than 2500 for it or fix the rust and paint it.

I can get 4x8 lumber in the back if my charger and I believe b bodies drive better than a bodies

Well believe it or not I posted it for $5000 obo and have had a ton of interested people mostly trades but I'll just sell the newer car later and get the cash so it might not get parted I'll post an add up tonight also I'll put new pictures up tonight

His B body has a fold down rear seat divider, right?
I rest my case.

Like they say... there's a butt for every seat. :) There may not be a lot of buyers who just have to have your car and will pay your price, but there's a chance there could be one and one is all you need. The problem is finding that one person. The problem is balancing getting the price you want with having to deal with a ton of people wasting your time.

This is an issue we discussed a lot with customers at the dealership I worked with who would object to their trade in value. They would say they could sell the car themselves for more money, which is true, but that's going to mean having to deal with tire kickers, low ballers, people saying they're coming over and never showing up, time that you have to spend waiting for people, etc., and when you factor in all the time and hassles you have to deal with, it's really not worth a few extra bucks.
