Want to add power windows to my 70 RR Convertible (one can't have a convertible without power windows......) Anyway I was wondering if anyone has a 70 with power windows that could post some photos so I can see where the window switches mount...

thanks

Soon as it gets light outside I'll go out to the shop get a pic for ya.

Top of the Bezel is 4"down from the top edge of the panel and the front edge of the bezel is 2 3/4 '' from the front edge of the panel. This corresponds to a recess or cavity in the quarter panel frame for the switch to fit into. DSCN3801.jpg

If you're getting new door panels to put those switches in, they should be already pre-cut on the back for both manual and power windows.

So this is a photo of the driver's side door? Can you send one of one of the rear quarter panels?

Thanks

PS: Hate to ask but can you also send one of the wire loom that runs between the front door(s) and the body frame? (the rubber wire loom has the wires in it...will help me to see where I need to cut the holes for the wire loom). Thanks

No, that pic is the RR quarter panel.

I'll try to get you more pics later. My front door panels are off the car right now so I can probably get you what you need. The wiring for the rear windows runs under the kick panel then along the channel on the floor to the rear. It's the same channel the rear wiring harness runs thru. If you remove the door sill plate and peel back the carpet, you'll see it. The wiring enters the quarter through a hole in the quarter floor level up inside and exits from a hole or cavity where the switch sits. Removing the rear panels is a pain, take out both parts of the back seat, arm rests, and seat belt buckles. Pics coming later today hopefully.

I'm surprised that the holes aren't already there with body plugs in them. Pics are of the drivers side. #1 shows the harness and grommet going into the door. #2 shows the harness and grommet at the door frame. #3 shows the harness between the door and frame.DSCN3807.jpgDSCN3804.jpgDSCN3805.jpg

Photon is right about new door panels having cutouts marked for the switches, at least the legendary brand do. I'm not sure if you have replacement panels or not. But all the switches sit into recesses in the body after tey are mounted to the door panels.

The holes are not there, however there are dimples stamped into the sheetmetal to show the location. I had to use a holesaw to put my own holes in when I switched to power windows.

Really. I guess they made them all that way, and just punched out the metal for power window cars. That should take the guess work out of where the holes go for Greg.
