I`m looking at some 451 parts. KB215 pistons & 440 rods. If they are 10.5 to 1 in an engine with 906 heads, what would they be with 452s on top instead ? Love this site !!!! Don.
That is what I was afraid of. I had been looking at the 451 stuff in the classifieds here. It is more squeeze than I need/want/can afford gas for. I wonder how much pressure I could bleed off with a nasty cam profile ??????? Any other opinions ? Thanks,Don.
Thicker head gaskets? I can't say how much going from the thin steel gaskets to a layered gasket would help, maybe a quarter point? Some better engine guys than me could give you a more definitive answer.
Makes about a half point difference going from the steel to a FelPro blue type gasket. And you can always have the tops of the pistons machined down if you're really that worried about compression.
