Need some opinions regarding Hemi Scoop

Am at a point where I need to make a decision and would appreciated some thoughts and comments.

I'm about to finish up the paint work (going with stock color as shown) on my 64 Sport Fury and need to decide whether or not to install the Hemi Scoop I purchased from AAR/Stinger fiberglass (a good quality piece). It's the lower profile height about 3 inches.

I bought the scoop thinking I would have a clearance problem with the Edelbrock RPM intake installation on the newly installed 451 stroker. After a check fit no clearance problems...no need to cut the hood and the installation would be for looks only...any comments one way or another would be greatly appreciated. As always thanks to all responders.

Personally, I like the stock, sleeper look of it, but the s/s look would look great as well

I like variety and if money wasn't part of the equation, I'd try to find a second hood and mount the scoop on that and paint it to match the rest of the car. Actually, if doing a scoop at all, how about a nice big Pro Stock monster!! Scares the hell out people.

Your car looks great just like it is. My '63 has the scoop and it is functional, but it required the original hood to be cut.

Actually I like this idea. Stocker it is really nice and I had a lot of reservation altering it.

that one
Original in the basement.
The replacement hood cost $50 on eBay used.

Iron built yours looks great with the scoop. I have the same issue do I put scoop on it our not. If I do the scoop will do full glass hood if not I'm leaving it alone. Should a 64 have the scoop

Your car looks great like it is. I have had a 64 race car with the scoop and my 63 also and my 64 dodge without.

I meant to first say that your stock hood is really nice, in fact, the whole car is beautiful! But , over the years, I have known a few folks who would switch out their hoods as they desired. Sometimes for racing,(scoop) and then street, (stock). To each his own. I have owned a Sox & Martin style full pro (7"?) hood scoop now for over 40 years. They are very rare to see these days. I am still waiting to mount it on my present car, especially since I have a spare hood with the late 60's style Mopar Super Stock type mounted on it that was used on a lot of Hemi Darts and Cudas. I think its about 4" high. I would love to put it on my 73 as I have never seen one on a 73 RR or Satellite. However, I would want to have it painted to match the car,(B-5 blue), which as you know matching any paint that is 8 years old or even new presents a challenge with different paint batches and such. Then there is the other problem, state regulations on height restrictions and obstruction to vision! Back in the day when we'd spend hours just trolling through junk yards, you could get things cheap! I think I paid $25 for a hood for my old 65 Dart. I mounted a Sox & Martin mini pro scoop on it and on another Dart I had I mounted a Shaker ($10),from a Cuda with a 440sixpak. I will attach old blurry pictures here of both, just for the hell of it. Again, you car is beautiful as it is, but it's the scare factor of big meat on the rear, maybe wheelie bars, a parachute or something and the old school hood scoop when you see it coming up behind you that gets you thinking, "what the hell is in that thing?" In my case, you'd never guess a slant 6!

I had one on my 63 Savoy but, like many back then I had a tall spacer in the center to open up the scoop for more air.

No clearance issues, then absolutely leave the stock hood on. Adding anything takes away from the lines.

this is a dodge scoop, Plymouth scoops were diff.

A GUY SHOWED A DODGE SCOOP IN THE POST, MERLEY MAKING A COMMENT. THE PLYMOUTH S/S SCOOPS WERE BETTER LOOKING.

If you add a scoop of any kind you need to remove the chrome spear and emblem and fill the holes. I did not add the scoop on my SS and left the stock SHORT spear on.
Lay the scoop on with the hood as is and you can see what I mean.

That's your opinion. I like the Dodge scoop.
