Hi we just changed out the 318 torsion bars in my 71 ssp to the 440 hemi ones
any advise or specs on resetting them up evenly with each other ?

Thanks

im sure theres specs someplace, but heres how i do it....

crank up the adjusters until the car looks relatively even....THENNNNN

roll the car about 20 feet back and forth a few times and look at it....get the height to where you want it......THENNNNNNN

roll the car a few times again.......THENNNNNNNN

put the car on a known level surface and take a measurement( middle of the front wheel opening for instance).....THENNNNNNNN

adjust both sides of the car even even plus or minus 1/4 inch...THENNNNNNN

roll the car again.....take final measurement until youre happy with it. ! THENNNNNN

go get a front end alignment....the end....and they lived happily ever after!

What he said, BUTTTT, don't just roll the car, bounce the front end to allow the suspension to settle in. You can also measure the gap between the lower control arm and the sub frame to get you close. You'll want some travel between the LCA stop and the frame so the car won't bottom out on the suspension.

Thank guys it sounds easy enough

on my smooth level garage floor the measurement from the floor to the center of the k-frame was 8 1/8 inches with the 318 in it .. When we put the 440 in the front dropped about 7/8" after moving it around

now with the bigger torsion bars if we set the distance back to 8 1/8 inches and level it out and keep checking after moving it around ..i wonder if it would still need a front end alignment ?

it would probably be best to get a front end aligned.Make sure you find a place that knows the proper adjustments for your year car.the 440 is a little bit heavier that the 318 so that will affect how the car handles down the road and on the cornering.

Ya i guess i wasnt thinking .. It needed an alighnment even before the new torsion bars because the heavyer 440 changed things
and good point on asking to make sure they can do my year of car properly
thanks

well we got them ajusted to to the hight it used to sit at.. car aint quit ready to drive yet ... we used .960 torsion bars for Improved "B/RB" and Hemi handling from mancini racing .. wonder if it will ride rough now ? has anyone here used these ?
